预定 (yù dìng) means to schedule a plan or event in advance (e.g., a meeting) or to reserve/book a seat/room. It is easily confused with its homophone 预订 (yù dìng), which is specifically for ordering or booking goods/tickets, and with 预约 (yù yuē), which is for making an appointment for a service (e.g., doctor). Use 预定 for plans and events, 预订 for tangible items, and 预约 for appointments.
