预示 (yù shì) means 'to indicate, foreshadow' — it describes signs or evidence that point to a future event, often used with natural phenomena or subtle clues. Unlike 预言 (yù yán), which is a verbal prediction by a person, 预示 is about observable indications. It is similar to 预兆 (yù zhào) as a verb, but 预兆 more often refers to a supernatural omen.
