首府 (shǒu fǔ) is the capital city of an autonomous region, such as Lhasa for Tibet. It differs from 首都 (shǒu dū), the national capital (e.g., Beijing), and 省会 (shěng huì), the capital of a province. Use 首府 only when referring to an autonomous region's administrative center.
