Definition
高度 (gāo dù) means 'height, altitude' as a noun and 'high-level, highly' as an adjective. As a noun, it is more general than 身高 (shēn gāo, a person's height) and more formal/technical than 高 (gāo, height, often in set phrases). As an adjective, it is used before verbs (高度评价 'highly praise'), unlike the adjective 高 which directly modifies nouns.
