Expressing "everything" with 什么 都

Use 什么 followed by 都 (or sometimes 也) after a topic to mean "everything" about that topic. Make sure a topic is included, otherwise the sentence may become a question or mean "anything".

Structure

Topic (+ Subj.) + 什么 + 都 / 也 + Verb / Adj.
都 is more common than 也; the subject after the topic is optional.

  • 我觉得这里的菜什么好吃。
    Wǒ juéde zhèlǐ de cài shénme dōu hǎochī.
    I think everything is delicious here.
  • 中国的历史爸爸什么知道。
    Zhōngguó de lìshǐ bàba shénme dōu zhīdào.
    My dad knows everything about Chinese history.
  • 工作的事情老公什么跟我说。
    Gōngzuò de shìqing lǎogōng shénme dōu gēn wǒ shuō.
    My husband tells me everything about work stuff.
  • 妈妈做的菜我什么喜欢。
    Māma zuò de cài wǒ shénme dōu xǐhuan.
    I like everything that mom cooks.
  • 我女朋友觉得外国的东西什么好。
    Wǒ nǚpéngyou juéde wàiguó de dōngxi shénme dōu hǎo.
    My girlfriend thinks that all foreign things are good.
