Expressing "why" with 何必

何必 is a rhetorical adverb meaning 'why bother' or 'there is no need'. Use it in the pattern Subj. + 何必 + Predicate to imply that an action is unnecessary or not worthwhile. It carries a critical or dismissive tone, so don't use it for genuine questions — for those, use 为什么 instead.
