Negation of past actions with 没有

Use 没有 (or the shortened 没) before a verb to indicate that an action did not occur in the past. Unlike 不, which is used for habitual or present negation, 没有 specifically marks that something did not happen.

Subj. + 没有 / 没 + Verb

  • 没有去上班。
    Wǒ méi yǒu qù shàng bān.
    I didn't go to work.
  • 你昨天回家吗?
    Nǐ zuó tiān méi huí jiā ma?
