In der Informatik ist 字节 die Einheit für die Datengröße – ein Byte entspricht 8 Bits (位). Im Chinesischen bedeutet 字节 wörtlich 'Zeichen-Silbe', weshalb es in manchen Quellen auch als 'Silbe' übersetzt wird.
