Definition
一方面 is a conjunction used in the correlative pattern '一方面…，另一方面…' to contrast or balance two aspects, reasons, or sides of a situation. It often appears at the start of the first clause, and the second clause usually begins with 另一方面 ('on the other hand'). You can also repeat 一方面 in both clauses. This structure is common in formal speech and writing to present dual perspectives.
