Definition
亲爱 (qīn ài) is the standard adjective for 'dear, beloved' — used before nouns (亲爱的妈妈) or as a direct address (亲爱的). Unlike 心爱 (xīn ài), which is more formal and often for cherished objects, and 宝贝 (bǎo bèi), a colloquial noun term of endearment, 亲爱 is the most common way to express affection in both speech and writing.
