别人 (biérén) is the everyday, neutral word for 'other people, others' — safe for most situations. 他人 (tārén) is more formal/literary; 人家 (rénjia) is more colloquial and can also mean 'one' or 'I'. 对方 (duìfāng) is narrower — 'the other side' in a conversation or relationship.
