后者 (hòu zhě) — the latter (of two)

Definition

后者 (hòu zhě) means 'the latter' — the second of two things just mentioned. It is the direct counterpart of 前者 ('the former'); in a pair 前者…后者, 前者 refers to the first item and 后者 to the second.
