Definition
弥漫 conveys that something (fog, smoke, smell, atmosphere) fills an area so it seems everywhere at once. It differs from 扩散 (spread outward from a point) in stressing the sense of being fully surrounded, and from 充斥 (flooded with undesirable things) by being neutral or even pleasant. Use 弥漫 for a pervasive, often sensory presence.
