急救 (jí jiù) means 'to give first aid' — the immediate, on-the-spot medical care you give before a professional arrives. It is more specific than 救 (to save/rescue), and less intense than 抢救 (professional emergency rescue) or 救命 (life-saving, often a cry for help).
