Definition
打磨 (dǎ mó) means to polish or burnish a surface until smooth, and figuratively to refine a work or skill. It differs from 磨 (mó), which is broader (grinding, rubbing, even pestering). Compared to 炼 (liàn) / 提炼 (tí liàn) — which extract or purify the essence — 打磨 emphasizes smoothing and finishing.
