Definition
担当 (dān dāng) means 'to take on (a responsibility, role, or task)' with a strong connotation of willingly shouldering a burden or duty — it is more proactive and formal than the neutral 承担 (chéng dān). Unlike 揽 (lǎn) which can imply grasping or monopolizing, 担当 expresses dutiful assumption. It is more emphatic than the general 担 (dān).
