推迟 (tuī chí) is the most common, neutral word for 'postpone, delay' an event or plan. Compare: 延期 (yán qī, HSK6) emphasizes officially extending a deadline or period; 拖延 (tuō yán, HSK6) has a negative sense of procrastination or unnecessary delay. 顺延 (shùn yán, HSK7) is used when an event is moved to the next available date due to stated reasons (e.g., rain).
