Definition
深邃 (shēn suì) describes a deep, serene quality in physical spaces (valleys, night) or profound, abstruse ideas (theories, knowledge). Unlike 深奥 (shēn ào), which stresses intellectual difficulty, 深邃 adds a poetic, serene or mysterious tone. It is more literary and evocative than 深沉 (shēn chén), which can also describe a person's reserved character.
