Definition
混杂 means to mix different kinds of things together indiscriminately, often resulting in a jumbled or chaotic state. Unlike 混合 (hùnhé, neutral 'mix'), 混杂 carries a connotation of messiness or confusion — things that shouldn't be together are thrown in. It can describe both the action (mixing) and the outcome (being mixed up).
