Definition
神圣 (shén shèng) means 'holy, sacred' and applies to both religious things (temples, scriptures) and secular things considered inviolable (duties, rights, territory). It is a strong, reverent word — unlike 经典 (jīng diǎn), which means 'classic' in the sense of representing the highest standard, without the religious or inviolable connotation.
