Definition
翻 (fān) is a versatile verb meaning 'to turn over, flip' or 'to rummage through'. It is also used colloquially as a short form of 翻译 (fān yì) for 'translate'. Unlike 推翻 (tuī fān), which means 'to overthrow' a government or repudiate a decision, 翻 alone is more general.
