Definition
脱节 (tuō jié) describes something that has become disconnected or out of sync, either physically (parts coming apart) or figuratively (ideas, practices, or systems no longer fitting together). It differs from 脱离 (tuō lí), which implies actively breaking away from a group or situation, and from 断裂 (duàn liè), which is a physical fracture of hard materials.
