Definition
腹泻 (fù xiè) is the standard, medical term for having diarrhea. Its sibling 泻 (xiè) also means 'to have diarrhea' but is broader: it can mean 'to purge' (e.g., bowels) or 'to gush/flood'. When specifically referring to the condition of diarrhea, 腹泻 is more precise and commonly used.
