酒楼 (jiǔ lóu) refers to a traditional Chinese restaurant, typically multi-story, that serves full meals and banquets. It is more formal and upscale than 饭馆 (fàn guǎn, a small casual eatery) and more specific than 餐厅 (cān tīng, a generic dining hall). Unlike 饭店 (fàn diàn) and 酒店 (jiǔ diàn), which can also mean 'hotel', 酒楼 is exclusively a restaurant.
