鼠 is a bound form (b.f.) meaning "mouse" or "rat." It cannot be used alone as a word and almost always appears in compounds such as 老鼠 (mouse/rat), 鼠标 (computer mouse), and 小鼠 (little mouse). It also represents the first animal in the Chinese zodiac (生肖).
