Using 也 and 都 together
To express 'also all' or 'and also' for a group, place 也 before 都. Use 也都 when adding another group to a statement or emphasizing that all members of a set share a characteristic. The order is fixed: 也 must come first, so 都也 is incorrect.
Structure
Subj. + 也都 + Predicate
The predicate can be a verb or an adjective.
Examples
- 我很好，我的家人也都很好。Wǒ hěn hǎo, wǒ de jiā rén yě dōu hěn hǎo.I'm good. So is everyone in my family.
- 大人很喜欢这个餐厅，孩子们也都很喜欢。Dà rén hěn xǐ huan zhè ge cān tīng, hái zi men yě dōu hěn xǐ huan.Adults all like this restaurant, and the children all like it too.
- 我老板是美国人，很多客户也都是美国人。Wǒ lǎo bǎn shì měi guó rén, hěn duō kè hù yě dōu shì měi guó rén.My boss is American. Lots of our clients are also Americans.
- 他很高，他的两个弟弟也都比较高。Tā hěn gāo, tā de liǎng gè dì di yě dōu bǐ jiào gāo.He's tall. His two younger brothers are also pretty tall.
- 老板加班，你们也都要加班吗？Lǎo bǎn jiā bān, nǐ men yě dōu yào jiā bān ma?The boss will be working late. Will you all need to work late too?
