Verbs followed by 给

The pattern places 给 after a verb (usually a monosyllabic action verb) to indicate the recipient of something given, sent, passed, etc. The object being transferred can come after the recipient or be placed at the beginning of the sentence for emphasis.

Structure

Subj. + Verb + 给 + Recipient + Obj.
Obj. + Subj. + Verb + 给 + Recipient

    Zuó tiān yǒu rén sòng gěi wǒ yí shù huā.

    Please pass me a box of tissues.
  • 这是我们送你的生日礼物。
    Zhè shì wǒ men sòng gěi nǐ de shēng rì lǐ wù.
    This is your birthday present from us.
