法院 (fǎ yuàn) refers to a court as a legal institution or building (e.g., 人民法院). 法庭 (fǎ tíng) is a more specific term for the courtroom within a court, or a tribunal. 宫廷 (gōng tíng) means an imperial/palace court and is unrelated.
