Definition
签署 is the most formal way to say 'to sign,' used for official documents, treaties, and agreements. It is more formal and often more solemn than 签 (general sign) and 签订 (formal but broader contract signing). Unlike 签名/签字 (sign one's name), 签署 focuses on executing an agreement.
