Definition
絮 is a bound form (b.f.) — it cannot stand alone as an independent word. It appears as a morpheme in compounds with three main senses: (1) cotton wadding or fluff (棉絮), (2) to wad or pad with cotton (絮棉), and (3) to be long-winded or nagging (絮叨). The third sense is metaphorical, derived from the idea of cotton fibers being tangled and endless.
