Definition
裔 (yì) is a bound morpheme (b.f.), meaning it cannot stand alone as a word. It means 'descendant' or 'lineage' and appears as the second element in compounds such as 华裔 (Chinese descent/overseas Chinese), 后裔 (descendant, offspring), and 亚裔 (Asian descent). You cannot use 裔 like a free noun — instead, pair it with a prefix indicating ethnic origin or ancestry.
b.f.
(bound form) descendantperson of a specified ethnic ancestry
