介入 (jiè rù) — to intervene, to get involved (in a matter/conflict/situation)

Definition

介入 means to step into or get involved in a matter — a deliberate, active intervention. It is more neutral and decisive than 插手 (meddling, often unwelcome) and 干预 (which spans positive and negative senses); 卷入 implies being drawn in passively.
