Expressing "never again" with 再也不
Use 再也不 before a verb (often with an auxiliary verb like 想, 会, 能, or 要) and end the sentence with 了 to express that an action will never happen again or be done again, showing strong determination or a change of state.
Structure
Subj. + 再也 + 不 (+ Aux. Verb) + Verb Phrase + 了
Aux. Verb (想/会/能/要) is optional; 了 indicates a change of state.
Examples
- 我再也不想看到你了！Wǒ zài yě bù xiǎng kàn dào nǐ le!I never want to see you again!
- 我再也不想跟你说话了。Wǒ zài yě bù xiǎng gēn nǐ shuō huà le.I don't want to talk with you ever again.
- 我们再也不会相信你了！Wǒ men zài yě bú huì xiāng xìn nǐ le!We're not going to believe you ever again!
- 医生说她再也不能跳舞了。Yī shēng shuō tā zài yě bù néng tiào wǔ le.The doctor said she will never be able to dance again.
- 我再也不要离开你了。Wǒ zài yě bú yào lí kāi nǐ le.I'm not going to leave you ever again.
