Definition
挡路 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to block the way' or 'to get in the way'. You can insert elements between 挡 and 路, such as aspect markers (了, 过), measure words (一次), or possessors (他的). For example: 挡了他的路 ('blocked his way'), 挡过一次路 ('blocked the way once'). It cannot take a direct object like 'block someone' — instead use 给某人挡路 or 挡某人的路. Beyond literal road-blocking, it can mean getting in someone's way figuratively.
