而且 (ér qiě) — moreover, furthermore; (used in 不但...而且...) not only ... but also

Définition

而且 links two clauses to add a related or stronger point ("and what's more…"). It's the second half of the 不但…而且… pattern ("not only… but also"), where 不但 opens the sentence and 而且 introduces the added half.
