越 (yuè) — (adverb, in structure '越A越B') the more... the more

Definition

In the pattern 越A越B, 越 means 'the more A… the more B' (e.g. 越跑越快 'the more you run, the faster'). Don't confuse it with 更加, which just means 'even more' without this paired structure.
