Turning adjectives into adverbs
To turn an adjective into an adverb, place the structural particle 地 (de) after the adjective and before the verb. This pattern is similar to adding '-ly' in English. The most common pitfall is confusing 地 with 的, which is used for possession or attributive modification.

Exemples
- 你要努力地学习。Nǐ yào nǔ lì dì xué xí.You must study hard.
- 他顺利地通过考试了。Tā shùn lì dì tōng guò kǎo shì le.He passed the exam successfully.
- 他认真地对我说:“我喜欢你。“Tā rèn zhēn dì duì wǒ shuō: "wǒ xǐ huan nǐ. "In all seriousness, he said to me: "I like you."
- 老师生气地看着我们。Lǎo shī shēng qì dì kàn zhe wǒ men.The teacher is looking at us angrily.
- 大家都在教室里安安静静地看书。Dà jiā dōu zài jiào shì lǐ ān ān jìng jìng dì kàn shū.Everybody is reading quietly in the classroom.
